We are excited to announce a new programme for AIDS-affected teens in the Umqatsheni area near Underberg. Funded by HIVOS and Europcar, Clowns Without Borders and the Khuphuka Project are piloting a programme focused on psychosocial support and HIV prevention with tens ages 12-15 and their guardians.

This programme will run for 10 sessions during October and November in rural communities. It expands on our already existing Njabulo Programme that is targeted for children ages 8-12 using parent training, peer support, and mindfulness based stress reduction. The project is focused on providing emotional support and improve child-guardian relationships while facilitating conversations between teens and their carers around issues of sexuality and HIV/AIDS. The Khuphuka Child Support workers will be also taking part in the project which will further strengthen their ability to respond to the needs of young people in the community.

Stay tuned for reports from the field!
